Altuglas International introduces Plexiglas® MC Diffusion acrylic sheet, a new family of acrylic sheet designed for optimum diffusion of LED light sources

- Communiqué de presse
Corporate - Produits
As new and more demanding applications for LED lighting emerge, the ability to diffuse light without compromising overall light transmission has become critical, especially for indoor lighting. To address this market need, Altuglas International, a division of Arkema Group, is introducing a new family of acrylic sheet, Plexiglas® MC Diffusion, designed to provide LED luminaire OEMs and optics suppliers with excellent light diffusion performance, along with exceptional light transmission.

There are two grades available from the Plexiglas® MC Diffusion acrylic sheet family. Plexiglas® MC Diffusion 100 acrylic sheet provides a smoother sheet surface, and Plexiglas® MC Diffusion 200 acrylic sheet has a textured surface.

“What makes this sheet an exceptional choice for many light source applications is its diffusion quality,” said Altuglas International’s Randy Miller, business development manager for Plexiglas® sheet products.  “Plexiglas® MC Diffusion 100 acrylic sheet provides 87 percent light transmission, while Plexiglas® MC Diffusion 200 acrylic sheet provides 84 percent light transmission,” Miller noted.  “Both grades provide a greater than 95 percent haze to allow for excellent light source hiding capability.”

Designing with the material is easy, and it has all the fabrication attributes customers have come to expect of standard Plexiglas® acrylic sheet.

This versatile material can be used in lighting applications for commercial, industrial, residential and professional uses. Besides the typical lighting applications, Plexiglas® MC Diffusion acrylic sheet is a perfect fit for skylights, POP displays, store fixtures, signage, and decorative furnishings. Its features include:

  • Excellent diffusion characteristics
  • Exceptional light transmission
  • Lightweight - half the weight of glass
  • Easily fabricated and thermoformed
  • Standard thicknesses of 0.080” and 0.118”
  • Standard sheet sizes
  • Customized sizes available upon request
